Contemporary Romance Challenge
This is my second year participating in this challenge! I kind of stopped participating the last few months, but I hope to pick this challenge up again in January! The basic goal is to read as many contemporary romance (YA, NA or Adult) titles as possible! There are different levels of difficulty and I’m choosing the top one of 21+ titles since I read a ton of romance already! This should not be a difficult challenge for me to complete., so as another layer of difficulty, I set up a TBR for this challenge of books I would like to complete in 2017. I will be posting my reviews on my Goodreads with periodic update posts on the blog as well to track my progress!
Here are some titles I’m hoping to get to in 2017
Flights of Fantasy
This my first year competing in this challenge. If you know me at all you will know that I have a pretty severe aversion to YA and Adult fantasy. The complex world building, rule systems and characters do not appeal to me most of the time. When I decide to read a book I go for escapism and I do not feel that in this genre suprisingly. But, I would like to read more fantasy and challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone. The goal? Simple. Read as much fantasy books as I can. My aim is to complete 10 novels in the genre.

Mystery/Thriller Reading Challenge
Not an official challenge, but I am wanting to read more mysteries in 2017. I normally enjoy the ones I read but get to them so infrequently! My goal is to read 5-10 books and I will track and review them as I complete them.
On the List
Each year, I like to put a list of books together that I have put off reading for one reason or another. I hope I can get to at least of few of these!
On the List
I am HORRIBLE at committing to full series. This could be a personal problem but I still want to give it a try.
Here are three series I aim to complete in 2017
Like many book lovers, I have a mountain the size of China of books that I need to complete on all major devices–print, audiobook, ebook. Each year I try my hardest to whittle that proverbial mountain down to a molehill (yah right!)
Here are some titles that I would LOVE to get read in 2017
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Immaculate by Katelyn Detweiler
Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley
Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
A Sense of the Infinite by Hilary T. Smith
We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
(completed March 2017)
2017 Book Bingo
Finally, as a fun little add on this year, I will be participating in book bingo! This is run by Devin from @devin.reads on Instagram. The basic idea is that you select books to read based on spots on the board. Here are just some this year’s possible challenges
A book with pictures
A book set during wartime
A book of letters
I will keeping track on the blog, Instagram the Book Bingo Goodreads page.
